Designed for puppies under 9 months old, every visit is about bringing out your puppy’s best while having as much fun as possible.
Why Is Puppy Socialization So Important?
Just like human kids, puppies are constantly absorbing information that informs their future habits, behaviors, and worldview. Positive socialization in their early months set the stage for better confidence, manners, and adaptability. It also reduces the likelihood of future fears, including separation anxiety and reactivity. Our puppy socialization teaches young pups that the outside world is fun and nurturing, even when mom and dad aren’t present.
Here are just some of the benefits of a high quality, professional puppy socialization like ours:
- Develops essential social skills for polite, calm, and positive interactions with other dogs
- Promotes resilience and a secure sense of self
- Demystifies new experiences and places including the pet resort environment
- Encourages friendly, positive interactions with new humans
- Provides a fun, enriching outlet for exercise and entertainment
- Establishes early manners and behaviors ahead of full-scale puppy training
When a puppy learns that new things, people, and places are FUN- not frightening- it transforms the way they experience the world, now and in the future!
Puppy Socialization Safety
Your puppy’s safety and wellness are our top priorities. Every aspect of our program is carefully selected to provide a comfortable, healthy, and pleasant experience for your youngster. Here’s how we keep our puppy socialization in Parkersburg as safe as it is fun:
- Attendance is limited to ensure every pup is content, safe, and confident, and puppies are separated based on age and size
- Our team members are highly trained in the specific needs of puppies with multiple professionals supervising each session
- We don’t just watch, we positively guide social interactions, praise good behaviors, and redirect less desirable habits
- Our indoor and outdoor play areas are thoroughly cleaned every day, and a special space is set aside specifically for puppies on scheduled program days
- Secure fencing, climate-controlled rooms, and ample rest opportunities ensure each puppy’s safety and comfort
Good, rewarding, and memorable experiences are our goal. At every session, we aim to establish positive associations, promote growth, and give puppies a special place to have tons of fun.
Puppy Socialization FAQ
Are vaccinations required for puppy socialization?
Yes! Health and safety are our top priorities. That’s why we require proof of age-appropriate vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian. Please call us for more information.
What is the age requirement?
Our local puppy socialization is designed to benefit puppies 9 months and under. Puppies beyond this age are more than welcome to join us for doggie daycare, which is packed with socialization and learning opportunities!
When does puppy socialization take place?
We host Puppy Socials on the first and third Saturdays of the month!
Are reservations required for puppy socialization?
Yes, we require reservations for puppy socialization to keep group sizes small, ensure all puppies are appropriately vaccinated, and ensure we have the right number of staff on hand. All we need is a phone call to get your pup registered—it’s completely free of charge.
What will my puppy do at puppy socialization?
Our puppy guests enjoy supervised social playtime with other puppies in our indoor/outdoor play yards. They’ll also get lots of human attention, positive reinforcement, and enrichment in a nurturing environment. We also take the time to introduce the puppies to the various parts of our pet resort to build familiarization for easy, comfortable future visits. This may include introduction to our lodging areas, lobby, and grooming salon!
What are the risks of not socializing my puppy?
Puppies who miss out on early socialization are more likely to develop fear, reactivity, and anxiety when away from home. They’re also less likely to adapt to new environments and situations well. Puppies who are well socialized tend to enjoy better confidence and behavior, leading to more freedoms in the future and a more harmonious household.
Can older dogs be socialized at Crazy Bone Pet Resort?
While we don’t have a free socialization program for adult dogs, many dogs enjoy positive socialization as part of our regular doggie daycare. Reluctant or hesitant dogs tend to come out of their shell after a few visits to our resort—please call to discuss how we can help your pup!
Can I stay for the session?
Puppies often act differently when their parents are present and may not fully engage with the group. To help your puppy fully relax and build essential independence, sessions are designed for puppies only. When you come to pick up, we’ll tell you all about your furry pal’s day, what they did, and who they made friends with.
